Native to Brazil, with brilliant markings that somewhat resemble watermelon patterns, our Peacock Plants (Calathea roseopicta) are also known as Prayer Plants by many because of their tendency to lift and lower their leaves throughout the day. While they do need a little bit of extra care, they’re happy with moderate light, moderate water, and high humidity.

When it comes to showmanship, you can't go wrong with peacock plants. Watermelon colors of dark red on the bottom and variegated green and yellow on the top make their foliage stand out. Officially called calathea roseopicta, these Brazilian beauties have earned the nickname prayer plants. This is because they raise and lower their leaves throughout the day, as if they're worshipping. A medium-care plant, it thrives in humid environments.

Plant arrived in very good and is even more striking than the photo. It was a gift and the recipient loved it.

Lovely, healthy plant

I'm unfamiliar with the peacock plant, but the one from Lively Root is beautiful. It arrived well packed and healthy and after three days several new leaves are ready to unfurl. Good tips about humidity level, so far this plant is thriving in Florida with fresh air circulation. Will mist when our humidity drops. The packing and dispatch of Lively Root plants is remarkable--the two I have arrived in splendid health.

Above and beyond service

I ordered this plant as a gift and encountered delivery problems (my fault). The Lively Root team were exceptionally helpful and troubleshooted the issue swiftly on my behalf. Communication was excellent throughout. The plant was of such high quality that when it eventually arrived, it was still perfect!

I sent by mother this little cutie after her beloved dog crossed the rainbow bridge. It is beautiful and thriving.

Beautiful like a Peacock

I LOVE my first plant! I haven’t started talking to her yet but watered and spritzed It like the instructions said. It’s absolutely beautiful and came perfectly packaged with not a leaf out of place! Can’t wait to watch it grow and I am ready to buy my second one from Lively Root soon! It’s in a temporary “pot” but have ordered a nice one for it soon.

I absolutely love this plant. It is so pretty and a unique addition to my plants. I cannot get over how truly lovely the colors in this plant are. I live in the midwest and we are heading into a dry winter, so I got a humidifier to keep near this plant (as well as my ruby rubber tree and my croton petra), and the peacock plant has loved having the additional humidity. If I forget to turn the humidifier on, I can actually see the leaves perk up as soon as I do turn it on, so I do think that a humidifier may be a must if you will be having this plant in dry climates.

It was packaged so nicely and arrived in perfect condition. I think stupidly left it on the counter and my cat destroyed it overnight.
