We know, there are a lot of different types of Snake Plants and it can be tough to know which is which. Variegated, or Laurentii, is the most common one you’re going to find and is really, really durable when it comes to growing conditions. We’re talking extra tough, leave it and forget it (then remember it) tough. Known as a great air purifier, they’re native to West Africa, and often used in Feng Shui.

The leading commercial variety of Sansevieria, known and grown for the hemp-like fiber in the leaves. It’s an interesting and attractive plant that is also durable to a wide range of conditions. It’s an easy plant to care for and makes for a great addition to your personal green space.

Species of the Sansevieria genus are recommended for air purification – particularly within the home and office.

Grown in the USA. Native to native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo.

Fun Facts

Hollywood's plant! Sansevieria has frequently been used as a set decoration in many films and TV shows, including: A Serbian Film, Being John Malkovich, Blue Velvet, Duck Soup, Groundhog Day, Homegrown, The Paper, and These Final Hours.

Because the leaves of Sansevieria grow upwards, the plants can be used for feng shui purposes.

Some believe that having Sansevieria near children helps reduce coarseness, although care must be taken to ensure the child cannot reach the plant's poisonous leaves.

Others recommend placing pots near the toilet tank to counter the drain-down vibrations.

A fibre is obtained from the leaves and is used for making mats, sails, cordage, coarse cloth and the production of paper pulp.

I ordered a snake plant as a gift for my friend's engagement. I accidentally left off the apartment number in her address. I worked with Debbie in customer support and she was great. Very responsive and friendly. After a good bit of back and forth, UPS lost the package and Debbie offered to send another one for me for at no cost. Plenty of companies would have told me it was a lost cause. I am SO grateful they worked with me and I didn't just throw away money.

The plant was great. Shipping not so swift though. Most of dirt out of pot and left a trail from the box. Messy to unwrap, dirt scattered everywhere.
