Commonly known as the ponytail palm, the Beaucarnea recurvata species is part of the Asparagaceae family. It has long, bright green leaves that twirl out of its trunk, resembling its namesake, the ponytail. It can grow to 10' high outdoors under optimal conditions.

Fun Facts

Despite its name and palm-like appearance, the ponytail palm is not a true “palm.” In fact, it is more closely related to desert plants in the Agave and Yucca genera (e.g., Joshua trees).
There are 350-year-old Beaucarneas known in Mexico.
