Learn Why Plants are the Perfect Gal Gift

Galentine’s Day is a day to celebrate the amazing female friendships and women in our lives. Here’s a little history to learn how it started. Founded by fictional character, Leslie Knope, of the show Parks and Recreation as a chance to recognize the impact friends have on our lives and thank them for their steadfast loyalty, love, and laughter. In her words, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

Since 2010, when Galentine’s began growing in popularity, sales for Valentine’s Day started trending downwards. According to Hallmark, nearly 2/3 of women purchasing cards around Valentine’s Day were doing so for non-romantic relationships, including friends and family.

In a day all about supporting the women in your life, think about getting a plant that will last as long as your friendships. Let’s face it as cheesy as it sounds, flowers are temporary and plants last forever (with the right care).

8 Plants To Get Your Favorite Gal this Galentine's Day

Flamingo Flower

1. Flamingo Flower

With red heart-shaped flowers that bloom off and on year-long, it isn't hard to see why this lovely flower flower is an easy pick. Also known as the Red Anthurium, it symbolizes warm-heartedness. It can make any room pop with its dark green foliage and shiny ruby flowers, making it our pick for those who appreciate the sophisticated

Maidenhair Fern

2. Fern (Maidenhair)

The Maidenhair Fern is a winning pick as it is safe for pets, and is the perfect pop of lacy green for those who appreciate the natural and delicate. Your favorite sweet and caring friend will wove this tender plant.

Succulent Valentine's Day

3. Succulent (Echeveria)

Succulents are one of the best plants for Galentine's Day. While not overtly lovey, they are extremely popular due to being nearly indestructible with enough light, and they are easy to propagate. This small plant is perfect for windowsills and shelves, and even inexperienced plant owners will have luck with them. We suggest the Echeveria for their rosette shape and uniquely tinted leaves. This is a perfect starter plant for a beginner plant owner that still is charming and will bring character to a room!

 Kalanchoe for Valentine's Day

4. Kalanchoe

Another hardy succulent, the Kalanchoe flowers naturally every spring with beautiful yellow, orange, red, pink, or white flowers. These lively blossoms are a sign of never ending devotion due to their long natural blooming period of 8 weeks. This is the perfect bright and cheery flowery gift even for those who seem to be missing their green thumbs

Bromeliad

5. Bromeliad

Safe for pets and easy for beginners, the Bromeliad is a natural art piece. In the same family as the pineapple plant, the gorgeous red center and evergreen leaves make it a visually stunning pick. If you are looking for a showstopper present to impress your bestie, this is it.

String of Pearls

6. String of pearls

If you are looking for an easy-to-care-for succulent but want something striking, this is a favorite plant present. A whimsical beauty, the String of Pearls succulent gets its name from the necklace-like appearance of the draping stems. This looks particularly captivating when in a hanging planter and is a visually unique plant without any hassle.

Split Leaf Phimodendron

7. Monstera

Also known as the Split Leaf Philodendron, this tropical plant brings joy to a home space and is fun to grow. They are great air purifiers and are perfect room pieces. This plant is gaining popularity as influencers love using it in interior design, and it often appears in advertising due to its beautiful leaves. If you are looking to find a quality home decor Galentine's Day gift, this is it!

Gardania

8. Gardenia

Gorgeous white rose-like flowers and charming green leaves have made this a classic Galentine's Day gift. Besides being a symbol of gentleness, this flower symbolizes eternal love - the find that only women can understand. This is perfect for someone looking for a delicate flowering plant gift that exudes traditional Galentines's Day charm.
