7 Positive things you can do in the New Year for yourself and your plants
Most of us try to set resolutions for the new year ahead of us and few make those resolutions a reality. We took a page out of the plant lover’s book to come up with seven easy and achievable to-do list to accomplish in 2021.
1. Add a new plant to your most used space in the house
Plants remove harmful toxins and chemicals from the environment. More plants equals a happier and healthier you. For Maximum air purification, make sure to add one plant for every 100 square feet of your home.
2. Get outside and soak up the sun with your plant friends
Sunshine is equally important to plants as it is to humans. It helps improve sleep, reduce stress, build your immune system and more. 15 minutes a day is all it takes for your daily dose of Vitamin D.
3. Incorporate more green into your daily routine.
Plants are high in fiber and incorporating plants into your diet helps improve gut health and supports your immune system. Try a green smoothie or a hearty salad!
4. Center your mind and body with plants
Plants work hard to help us breathe better but we need to take time to do the same for ourselves. One yoga session a week or 10 minutes of deep breathing a day is enough to reduce stress and relax our bodies. Get your chi on and exhale any negativity from your day.
5. Allow plants to provide you a little self-care.
Plants absorb toxic chemicals in their soil to keep them out of your air supply and away from your skin. The oxygen that they produce is also critical for healthy skin and producing collagen. Plants get their nutrients from their dirt and so can we. Take a self-care day and try a different kind of face mask - a mud mask. It will detox and unclog your pores and help remove pollutants and impurities, leaving a cleaner, fresher you.
6. Reconnect with plants & nature
People who get regular quality time in nature report feeling a sense of inner peace and mental clarity that helps them function better in their daily live and as much as our houseplant babies do for us, its important and get outside to see even more of what mother nature has to offer. Go for a walk on a local trail, have a picnic, or even just get outside to watch the sunset.
7. Let music soothe your soul - your plants will like it too!
Music can relax the mind, energize the body, and even help people better manage pain. Not only is music beneficial for humans but numerous studies have indicated that playing music for plants really does promote faster, healthier growth. Classical music seems to be the proven winner amongst humans and plants but put on any songs that soothe and relax you when you need to wind down.
