Small Aloe Humilis - A compact succulent with blue-green, spiky rosettes — easy care and full of character

Red, White, & Blue Trio Care Guide

The Peace Lily and Maranta Red both thrive in low to medium indirect light, making them well suited to interior rooms away from windows, while the Aloe is the outlier of the bundle and needs bright, direct sunlight — ideally a south-facing windowsill — to maintain its compact, healthy form.

The Peace Lily and Maranta Red both prefer evenly moist soil, watered when the top inch feels dry — the Peace Lily will dramatically droop when thirsty, while the Maranta Red is more sensitive to both over- and underwatering. The Aloe is the most drought-tolerant of the three and should be watered deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

The Peace Lily and Maranta Red both appreciate moderate to higher humidity, with the Maranta Red being especially prone to crispy leaf edges in dry air, while the Aloe is perfectly content with average household humidity and needs no extra moisture.

The Peace Lily and Maranta Red both prefer consistently warm indoor temperatures and are sensitive to cold drafts, while the Aloe is more temperature-flexible and can tolerate cooler conditions, though all three should be kept away from sudden temperature swings, exterior doors, and air conditioning vents.

All three plants are tropical or subtropical in origin and are best grown indoors year-round in most climates. The Aloe is the most adaptable to brief outdoor placement in warm, dry conditions, while the Peace Lily and Maranta Red should remain indoors except in the warmest, most humid zones.

Feed the Peace Lily and Maranta Red monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength, while the Aloe only needs feeding once or twice per growing season, as it is a light feeder by nature. Our Instant Plant Food works well across all three plants in this bundle — simply adjust frequency per plant as noted above when adding it to your watering routine. Pause fertilizing for all three during fall and winter.

The Peace Lily and Aloe both prefer to be slightly root-bound and only need repotting every two years, while the more vigorously growing Maranta Red benefits from a fresh pot annually. The Aloe is the only plant in this trio that needs a fast-draining, sandy or cactus-specific mix rather than a standard potting blend.

Wipe the Peace Lily's and Maranta Red's leaves with a soft damp cloth monthly to remove dust and keep foliage vibrant, deadheading spent Peace Lily blooms as they fade. The Aloe needs minimal cleaning — simply remove any brown or shriveled outer leaves at the base as they appear.

The Peace Lily and Maranta Red are both best propagated by dividing the root clump during repotting, ensuring each section has healthy roots and foliage. The Aloe is propagated by removing the small offset "pups" that form at its base, allowing the cut end to callous for a day or two before potting into a well-draining, sandy mix.
