The Marble Queen Pothos (Epipremnum Aureum 'Marble Queen') is undoubtedly sitting on the throne in our nursery! She's such a beauty crowned with long cascading variegated vines of yellow, creamy white, and green leaves that are heart-shaped, begging for your attention. This one needs no royal treatment and is very easy to maintain.

Marble Queen Pothos Care Guide & Presentation

This plant loves low to medium indirect light.

Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Pothos love high levels of humidity. Spritz occasionally.

Average comfortable room temperatures will be sufficient. These plants do not like cold temperatures under 55°F.

Outdoors in full sun (6-8 hours), where nights are above 55°F. If using in a container, they can only be used as an annual up to Zone 10.

Water the plant before fertilizing to avoid fertilizer burn. Fertilize once a month by diluting a liquid fertilizer into the water while watering. Use half the recommended strength. Fertilize in the spring and summer months but let the plant rest in the fall and winter.

When the plant is ready to repot (early spring before growth starts), plant in a 2" bigger container in diameter and slightly deeper than the existing planter. Use an indoor container mix that is well-draining. Add soil to the bottom to elevate the root ball. Lift the plant and release the roots against the existing planter. Use a clean knife or garden trowel to wedge between the pot and the soil to loosen. Inspect the root ball. Notice if there are any dead or rotting roots and trim off with sterile pruners. If the plant is rootbound, cut through the roots to alleviate continued encircling. Ensure the plant is sitting about 1" below the edge of the pot to avoid water spillage. Add more soil and backfill around the sides by tamping down. Do not cover the current level of soil on the plant but add soil up to this level. Replant and water thoroughly, leaving the soil damp but not soggy. Add more soil after watering if the soil settles.

To clean the leaves, put in a sink, and use filtered water in a watering container to shower over the leaves to knock the dust off. After cleaning the leaves, remove any dead leaves or debris on the surface of the soil. At this time, keep a lookout for pests and treat or remove them. Refreshen soil mixture if needed.

Prune away dead, damaged, or diseased leaves down to the stem base with sterile pruners. Maintain the long vines as a full and bushy vine by trimming every few months or leave them to grow longer. As they thin out on the stem, trim back. Use the cuttings to propagate more plants!

To propagate this plant, take a stem cutting in the early spring. With the cutting, remove the bottom leaves up 2-3 inches to expose the stem. Place the stem in a glass jar and fill with filtered water and watch the roots grow! Replace and freshen the water each week. After the roots are several months old, add to moistened potting soil, continue to water, and give them the lighting requirements.

Marble Queen Pothos: Overview

The Marble Queen Pothos (Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’) is a stunning variegated variety of the popular Pothos plant, known for its lush green leaves splashed with creamy white marbling. As a member of the Araceae family, this tropical plant is native to Southeast Asia and the Solomon Islands. It’s an easy-care, low-maintenance plant that tolerates various light conditions, making it a favorite among indoor gardeners.

The Marble Pothos can grow up to 6-10 feet long indoors, so it’s an excellent choice for trailing or hanging displays. It’s hardy in USDA zones 10-11, preferring indirect, bright light but can tolerate lower light conditions, though its variegation may fade.

The plant is also tolerant of occasional neglect, making it ideal for busy individuals or those new to houseplants.

Pothos plants are often associated with prosperity and good fortune, and it’s a lucky Feng Shui plant. However, it’s important to note that Pothos Marble Queen is toxic to pets if ingested, so it should be kept out of reach of curious cats and dogs. Pothos Marble Queen: Care Guide

The Queen Marble Pothos is a low-maintenance plant, perfect for novice and experienced plant lovers. With minimal care, this resilient plant will thrive in various indoor conditions. Here are some Marble Queen Pothos care guidelines:

Watering and Light

The Marble Pothos Plant prefers to be kept in moderately moist soil. Hence, water your Pothos when the top inch of the soil is dry. This relatively drought-tolerant plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low-light conditions, though its variegation may fade. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Temperature and Humidity

Keep your Marble Queen Pothos Plant in a warm environment with temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). This plant appreciates a humid atmosphere, making it ideal for bathrooms or kitchens. If the air in your home is dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a humidity tray.

Soil and Repotting

Plant your Epipremnum Aureum in a well-draining potting mix, ideally, a blend suited for houseplants with good aeration. Repotting is typically needed every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a container that allows for growth, but avoid pots that are too large as they can retain excess moisture.

Feeding and Pruning

Feed your Epipremnum Marble Queen Pothos with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Prune back any leggy growth to encourage a fuller appearance, and trim away yellow or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking healthy.

Propagation and Common Issues

Pothos propagation is easy and can be achieved in several methods. You root healthy stem cuttings with at least one node in water or directly in soil. Division and layering are also possible propagation techniques for this plant.

Common issues include yellowing leaves, due to overwatering, and brown tips, which may indicate low humidity. Regularly check for pests like spider mites and mealybugs, and treat them promptly if detected.
